Odisha: AIIMS junior doctor threatened with rape, asked to vacate flat amid COVID-19 fear

In a shocking case has come to light from Odisha where a lady doctor was asked to vacate her flat due to the coronavirus fear and also threatened her with rape by an office-bearer of her housing society.

As per media reports, the woman is a junior doctor in the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar.


However, the police action has been taken against the accused.

As per the reports, the accused man allegedly told the doctor that she would be raped if she didn’t vacate the flat at the earliest. The accused man said that he believed that the woman would expose the rest of the society to COVID 19.

Police registered a case against the accused after receiving the inputs about the incident. The accused man has been booked for criminal intimidation.

In the FIR, the woman alleged that the office-bearer asked her to vacate the flat as she works in AIIMS and treats COVID-19 patients. She further added that the man has been constantly harassing her. After rape threats, the doctor decided to approach Police about the whole incident.

The FIR read, “We have been living in our flat for several years in the Khandagiri area. But a society office-bearer, his wife, and two sons hurled abuses at me and asked me to leave.

While the nation cheers healthcare professionals as warriors, the office-bearer said that I might spread novel coronavirus in the society as I am a doctor. " The doctor also clarified that she is not involved in the treatment of coronavirus patients, The Times of India reported.

Soon after a woman’s complaint, the society lodged a counter-complaint against the family of the woman and claimed that the lady doctor’s family misbehaved with office-bearers.
