Mumbai: Shame! Woman hawker raped twice by three men on pretext of help
Crimes against women have been increasing rapidly despite several strict laws against criminals. One such horrifying case took place in Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai, where a 19-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men on February 19.
Reportedly, she was raped on the pretext of help by men.
Police claimed that all the three accused involved in the matter have been arrested.
The 19-year-old was gang-raped in separate incidents within two hours. According to the reports of PTI, the woman works as a hawker selling nose rings at the railway stations.
The incident took place with the woman on February 18, “ the victim failed to board a train at suburban Ghatkopar while she was with her family. After this, she boarded another train and got down at the Mumbra railway station in Thane district. She later slept at the metro station in the night,” said Police officer from Rabale MIDC police station.
Later, she boarded a train on February 19 and reached Diva station where she took the help from a beggar in selling the nose rings but they couldn’t sell any.
After which she moved further on the road to reach the Diva Railway station. She asked an auto-driver to drop her at the nearby railway station.
The auto driver took her in a ramshackle building in Navi Mumbai and raped her. Later, he dumped the woman near a temple in the locality.
After the sexually assaulted by a driver, she asked for held from a scooter rider to reach the nearest railway station.
Instead of taking the victim to the railway station, the duo took her to an isolated place near Ghansoli and raped her, an officer said from an FIR.
Police told the accused have been arrested based on the complaint filed by the woman. The accused have been sent to police remand till February 29.
