Minor found hanging from tree, cops suspect rape before murder
In a horror-struck incident of crime reported from Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha district, a 12-year-old girl’s dead body was found hanging from a tree with her hands fastened with a cloth on Tuesday. Police have a suspicion that the minor was murdered after being allegedly raped in a jungle.
The state police have also taken a person into their custody connected with the alleged rape and killing of the girl.
According to Vidisha district Superintendent of Police Vinayak Verma, the minor victim was at her residence till around 11 am when she told her father that she was going along with her mother to the forest area in Vidisha.
However, the mother of the victim stated that she had no idea that her daughter was following her to the forest area.
"When the mother returned home, she told her husband that she had no idea that her daughter was following her to the jungle. Thereafter, villagers launched a search to find the girl. Several hours later, they found the body of the child hanging from a tree with her scarf. Her hands were also tied," police said.
After the horrific incident, police took a youth from the village into their custody, who was accused of raping and killinging the girl.
"We have taken a youth of the village in our custody. He is being questioned. He was spotted suspiciously moving around the area and there are many inconsistencies in his statement. We are waiting for the report of the post mortem that was conducted in the night," police said.
As per police sources, the probability of gang rape ahead of the killing couldn’t be dismissed.
"There has to be more than one person who either helped the accused hang the body with the dupatta to the tree or were themselves involved in the crime. It is not possible for one man to hang a body to a tree like this," an investigating officer said.
"The suspected individual, who has been taken into police custody, is being interrogated and his identity along with other accused, if any would be revealed soon," police said.
