Another Swathi? Man slits 17-year-old's throat in broad daylight in Telangana

A 22-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing a 17-year-old girl in Telangana's Adilabad.

The accused, Mahesh, approached the victim - who was sitting outside her house - and slit her throat with a kitchen knife, allegedly because she had rejected his advances.

According to a NDTV report, the accused has been identified as a neighbour of the victim.

In 2015, the victim's family had lodged a police complaint, alleging that Mahesh was harassing her. Police told NDTV that Mahesh did not want her to get married to anyone else and had also tried to disrupt her engagement in January this year.

The news comes just days after the shocking murder of Swathi S, an Infosys techie in Chennai. The two cases have a number of eerie similarities, as Swathi was murdered in broad daylight at Chennai's Nungabukkam railway station by a man who was allegedly stalking her.
