Ridley Scott may direct The Prisoner

News Agencies | Updated on: 14 February 2017, 5:13 IST

Director Ridley Scott is in talks to direct The Prisoner, the big-screen version of 1968 British television series of the same name.

Several A-list writers have had a shot at penning the drafts of the script over the years, including Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects). The most recent version was by William Monahan (The Departed).

Universal and Scott are now looking for a new scriptwriter to come on board the project, which has been in the works at Universal for several years now, reports aceshowbiz.com.

The movie adaptation is being produced by Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark of Bluegrass Films. Interstellar director Christopher Nolan also circled the film at one point.

While Scott is prepping the Prometheus sequel, he is in the midst of Oscar campaign of The Martian, which is up for Best Picture in the Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes.
