Bond girl? Nah. Priyanka Chopra wants to be James Bond and she would be perfect!

Did any of you watch the last 007 film, Spectre? If yes, my sympathies. If not, what you missed was basically a typical Bollywood potboiler with fancy-sounding gadgets, an unnecessary title song and a half naked hero with equally scantily-clad women thrown in for good measure.

Are you foaming at the mouth, Bond fans? The movie raked in $880 billion worldwide, you say? Agreed. But hear this out, though. Does the ostentatious amount of revenue excuse just how half-baked the action sequences were?

Christopher Waltz seemed to struggle to play even a half-way formidable villain, Bong girl Monica Bellucci had less screen time than the ill-fated Aston Martin, and Bond himself - Daniel Craig - looked like he'd rather be at home than play I-Spy with Waltz or Andrew Scott. The film may have made the producers happy but if you can honestly say you liked the story, direction, screenplay, dialogues and the (barely-there) action sequences, you need to raise your standards a teeny bit.

Keeping that in mind, let's consider Priyanka Chopra's recent interview, that's making everyone sit up and take note. Addressing the rumours of PC being considered for the next Bond girl, she said: "I get that all the time. But f**k that - I wanna be Bond."

MIC DROP.

And again. Before you start frothing at the mouth 007 fans, patience please.

Till date, this is the running theme for actors picked to play James Bond, the Queen's finest spy: white, good looking and but for a lone Australian and an Irish man, they've been mostly British.

Since this is in fact 2016 and humanity has moved forward superficially in leaps and bounds, that ethnicity barrier should stop mattering by now. Unless the Queen thinks diversity in spies is a bad thing.

So what else does Bond need?

  • Good looks? Check.
  • Style? Check
  • The ability to flaunt a license to kill? Stunts? Double check.

Bond girl, they said? Nah. This lady's more James Bond.
