New Study: Sleeping for 8 hours or more increases likelihood of early death
Sleep is very important in human life. It is possible to not go out for a while not having enough sleep will really give you a bad headache and hangover.
But, if you're sleeping for more than 8 hours then it will be a problem, according to a new research.
The scientific study reveals that a 47 per cent higher risk of heart disease and strokes for those who sleep more.
The new study says people who sleep way too much are very lazy and likely to have a greater risk of an early death.
Researchers reveal that people who are sleeping for more than eight hours at night have a higher mortality risk than those who sleep for seven hours or less.
The study involved more than 3.3 million people from around the globe and found that too much sleep puts you at the risk of heart disease and strokes.
The study was conducted by the universities of Keele, Manchester, Leeds and East Anglia found excessive sleep should be considered a ‘marker’ of poor health.
As per the scientists, who wrote in the Journal of American Heart Association, one explanation could be getting too much sleep means people get too little exercise, raising their risk of heart problems.
There is also a possibility that people who are sleeping more than sufficient are already suffering from undiagnosed problems.
They further wrote that long sleep duration may be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease because of “comorbidities that lead to fatigue, such as chronic inflammatory disorders and anaemia.”
As per academics, doctors should screen patients who sleep more than sufficient daily and have for heart problems, adding that the lowest risk was shown for those who slept between seven and eight hours per day, according to the researchers.
People who slept for nine hours had a 14 per cent increased mortality risk, among those who got 10 hours the risk went up 30 per cent and those who slept for 11 hours were 47 per cent more likely to die an early death.
