Cristiano Ronaldo has enjoyed a mixed season - considering his lofty standards. He made it to the final three of the Ballon d'Or with Lionel Messi and Neymar of Barcelona. However, the Argentinian magician beat him to the prize.
There were suggestions that Ronaldo was finding it increasingly difficult to maintain the standards which made him one of the best players in the world over the last decade. But the Portuguese superstar is not one to bow down easily.
Real Madrid hosted Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabeau last night, and soundly beat the Catalan team 6 - 0.
The highlight of Real Madrid's performance was the clinical hat-trick by Cristiano Ronaldo - who is now joint top of the La Liga goalscoring charts along with Luis Suarez of Barcelona.
With his hat-trick, Ronaldo has managed to shut his haters up for now, proving once again why he is considered to be one of the best football players in the world.
