Bayern Munich's Champions League credentials will face a litmus test later this month, after the German champions were drawn against the formidable Atletico Madrid in the semi-final draw on Friday, 15 April.

Bayern, who had overcome Benfica in the quarters, will face Diego Simeone's men on the last week of April at Madrid's Vicente Calderon Stadium for the first leg, before hosting the second leg a week later.

Atletico Madrid have been in impeccable form in recent weeks. The team also knocked out defending champions Barcelona on Wednesday, 13 April.

On the other hand, 10-time European champions Real Madrid have been drawn against English side Manchester City, who will be appearing in a Champions League semi-final for the first time in their history.

City will be hosting the first leg at the Etihad, while the return leg will be held at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid.

The final is slated to be held a few weeks later at Milan's San Siro Stadium on 28 May.
