Europa League: Liverpool look to overturn deficit in 2nd leg semi-final clash vs Villarreal

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool will look to overturn a 1-0 first leg deficit when they take on Spanish outfit Villarreal in the 2nd leg of their Europa League semi-final clash at Anfield on Thursday, 5 May.

Adrian Lopez had scored a late winner for Villarreal at the Estadio El Madrigal last Thursday in a close contest to hand the Yellow Submarines a crucial lead before the visit to England.

With Liverpool being dubbed the favourites for the title following a thrilling quarterfinal win over Borussia Dortmund, the English side will hope to justify the tag when they take on the field on Thursday evening.

The winners of the tournament will earn a direct route to next season's Champions League, and with Liverpool already out of the reckoning for a top 4 place in the Premier League, Europa League represents their best chance of playing in Europe's biggest competition next term.

Daniel Sturridge is expected to challenge for a starting place after being dropped from the line-up in the first leg.
