SSC CGL 2016: 1.49 lakh candidates qualify for Tier II; registration till 11 Nov

About 1,49,319 candidates have qualified for Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination Tier II exam. The results of SSC CGL 2016 (Tier-I) were uploaded by the Commission on 8 November.

In an official notice, the commission stated, "It has been brought to the notice of the Commission that names of some of the candidates are repeatedly appearing in the list of successful candidates bearing different roll numbers. In this regard, it is clarified that roll numbers of candidates in respect of East Region (comprising West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa and Sikkim) and Karnataka-Kerala Region (comprising Karnataka and Kerala) have been assigned in alphabetical order, i.e. names appearing in the order in which words appear in dictionary. Accordingly, the names of successful candidates from these two Regions in the result also appear in similar manner. Each name appearing in the result is a separate identity with the unique roll number. The candidates are assured that the result is correct in all respects."

Meanwhile, in another notification, the commission notified that the last date to fill up online application is 25 November 2016.

SSC CGL 2016 Tier-II Exam will be held from 30 November to 2 December. According to a recent notification from the chairman of SSC, the final results could be declared by April end, 2017.

SSC CGL examination is held for recruitment to Group B and Group C posts across various ministries, government departments and offices in the country. This year, the computer-based exams were conducted from 27 August to 11 September. Over over 25 lakh had applied for SSC CGL tier 1 exam. A total of 14,25,234 candidates appeared for the test. Earlier, media reports suggested that the results will be declared on 7 October.
