SC to pass verdict on NEET today

Speed News Desk | Updated on: 10 February 2017, 1:50 IST

The Supreme Court is likely to pass the final order on National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) on 9 May.

With confusion prevailing over medical entrance examinations to be conducted by states, the apex court is expected to put a rest to all speculation with today's judgement - which will be passed by an SC bench comprising Justices AR Dave, Shiva Kirti Singh and AK Goel.

On 6 May, the SC ruled that medical aspirants who had appeared for first phase of the NEET exam, held on 1 May, will not be allowed to appear for the second phase of the NEET, to be held on 24 July.

The apex court had said that states may be allowed to conduct their own examinations for the current academic year.

Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar is expected to inform the court about the Centre's stand on the issue.

The combined NEET results are expected to be declared on 17 August.
