Now get 5 per cent relaxation for PhD admissions; read details

A piece of good news for the aspirants who wanted to pursue PhD this year as they will get five per cent reservation.

The University of Lucknow has decided to give 5 per cent relaxation in marks (from 50% to 45%) for the ongoing PhD admissions.


As per the reports of HT, the academic council meeting held in the university on Monday has decided to give 5% relaxation in marks in the entrance test for the SC/ST/OBC/non-creamy layer/differently-abled candidates.

The decision has been taken in sync with the Gazette of India: Extraordinary notification from a ministry of human resource development (University Grants Commission) dated 27th August 2018 regarding Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M Phil/PhD Degrees (first amendment) Regulations, 2018.

In the meeting, another decision was taken that the seats that will remain unfilled after admission from these SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories will be transferred to the next year for admission in the same category respectively, informed by NK Pandey, the LU spokesperson.

This decision has been taken in the executive council meeting held on Monday. Also, University of Lucknow has become the first state who has adopted this Gazette notification in the interest of the society.
