Students, who are going to appear for the 10th and 12th Board exams in next session, will witness a changed pattern when it comes to the passing marks. According to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), the latest pattern for passing the Board exam has changed now.

Earlier, students were required to score 40% to qualify the exam, but as per the new change, students of class X (ICSE ) will now have to score 33%, while students of class XII (ICE) will have to score 35% to pass the exams.

CISCE has announced that this revised plan has been introduced to bring the conformity with other boards in the country. These changes will be implemented from 2018- 2019 academic year onwards.

In an official letter sent to the Heads of all Council Affiliated Schools, Chief Executive and Secretary Gerry Arthoon has said that, “The Inter-Board Working Group has made several suggestions on which it was also suggested that all the Board must follow the same criteria for passing the exams.”

“The Council has participated in numerous meetings with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The other Examination Boards were also presented in the meeting, whereas, CISCE was nominated to be a member of the Inter-Board Working Group(IBWG) to discuss various examination related matters and make recommendations accordingly,” he added.

This rule is also implemented for the class 9 and 11. Now, passing marks for IX class is 33% and for XI Class is 35%.

Exam datesheets for ICSE and ISC exams will be released soon in Tripura, Meghalaya, Karnataka and Nagaland after the declaration of election dates. Due to the elections, board exams may get delayed in these four states.
