The Indian Institute of Management (IIM)) Bangalore will commence with its summer placement week for first-year students of Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP). Selected students will undertake a two-month internship in the months of April and May.
The Summer Internship Placements form an integral part of the IIMB curriculum and is intended as an opportunity to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world practices, communicated the institute.
The second batch of IIM Visakhapatnam, mentored by IIM Bangalore, comprising 54 students, will also be participating in the summer placement process on IIM Bangalore campus.
Both IIM Bangalore and Visakhapatnam students will be available for internships from 3 April to 31 May 2017.
"The two-month summer internship has been appreciated by companies visiting the campus as it provides necessary professional exposure, making our graduates ideal candidates for taking up a range of challenging managerial roles," said Professor Ganesh Prabhu, Chairperson, Career Development Services (CDS), IIM Bangalore.
The PGP 2016-18 batch of IIM Bangalore has a total of 407 students. They will be available for internship between 3 April and 31 May 2017.
"Many organizations use the Summer Internship Placements (SIP) as an opportunity for an in-depth assessment of our students and often extend Pre-placement Offers (PPOs) to their summer interns. Every year approximately 150 PPOs are made to the interning students in a variety of roles such as Management Consulting, Investment Banking, Sales & Marketing, Product Management and Supply Chain Management," said Sapna Agarwal, Head of Career Development Services, IIM Bangalore.
The Summer Internship interviews for the batch of 2016-18 will be followed, over the next few months, by Final Placement Interviews for the PGP batch of 2015-17, comprising nearly 410 students from IIM Bangalore.
