HBSE class 10th results 2018: Gurmeet from Jind tops the Haryana Board exams

Gurmeet, who comes from Haryana's Jind district has been declared as the final topper in the HBSE results declared. She is a daughter of a farmer and comes from a very humble background.

She was a student of SD Kanya Mahavidyalaya in Narwana town of district Jind. She scored 489 marks out of 500 and aggregated 97.8% marks, the highest in the state.

Speaking about the result, she said, I went to school yesterday and studied with her friends in group sessions.

“Not overstudying is my success mantra. I took breaks regularly. I feel thankful that I’m gifted a good learning power through which I understand concepts quickly,” Gurmeet said.

Gurmeet, whose mother is Angrezo Devi is a homemaker, said she wanted to pursue BA and then prepare for the civil services conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

 

“I want to work for the country and women by joining the IPS (Indian Police Service).”

Naveen and Heena, of Hisar district, emerged as the joint toppers in the science stream by securing 491 marks out of the maximum 500. Monika of Kaithal district was the commerce stream topper with 484 marks.

Around 63.84% students passed the Class 12 board exam -- slightly lower from 64.50% last year. Girls outshined boys as before as 72.38% of them cleared the exams as compared to 57.10% boys.

Board officials said 222,388 students appeared in the Class 12 exams, of which 141,973 passed and 49,163 faced compartments.
