Dalai Lama attends convocation ceremony at Ambedkar University Delhi

The Dalai Lama attended the fifth convocation of the Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) as the chief guest on Friday.

Over 530 students were conferred various degrees at the event for the academic year 2015-16 including PhD, MPhil, MA, BA (Honours) degrees, respectively, in various fields of studies such as economics, development studies/practice, psychology, women's and gender studies, business administration, education, environment and development, English, history, psychology, sociology, mathematics, human ecology, history, Hindi, design, film studies, literary art and visual art, performance studies and social sciences and humanities.

The Lt. Governor of Delhi, Najeeb Jung, also attended the convocation ceremony.

The first Ph.D. degree of the Ambedkar University Delhi was awarded to a female student during the convocation. About 19 students were awarded post graduate diplomas in early childhood care and education, development studies, environment & development and publishing.

The university currently has seven undergraduate, 17 post graduate, two PG diplomas, five MPhil and nine PhD programmes.
