Because of the coronavirus outbreak across the world, this year's results of the CBSE Board exam have become the talk of the town. As teachers, students and parents were skeptical about how the marks will be given in the exams which have been cancelled due to the novel coronavirus.

However, the Board had already released its Class 12th or intermediate results on July 13 and will soon release its Class 10th or high school results today.

But, the question that has been running into the mind of board students is how the board has awarded the marks?

Know the theory behind marks allotment to Board Students:

As CBSE had already informed the Supreme Court of India that CBSE Class 10th board exams have decided not to conduct the exam while class 12th remaining exams were kept as optional.

Amid this examination havoc, CBSE came with a formula to impute the marks of paper that were pending due to lockdown. The board decided to calculate the average of the best three papers of students who had appeared for four papers, of the best two for students who had written only three, and also used practical and project marks for who students who had written less than two.

This technique has been used while preparing the Board examination results of CBSE. The Class 12th result that has been released on Monday showed a noteworthy increase in the percentage of students scoring above 90 percent and 95 percent of marks.

Last year, a total of 12,05,484 students had appeared for the exam and 17,693 candidates or 1.47% had scored above 95% in their board examination. This year, the percentage has been doubled to 3.24%, with 38,686 of the 11,92,961 scoring in that extremely high marks bracket.

Similarly, the percentage of students scored above 90% has reached to 13.24%.

Even the overall percentage has also increased in comparison to last year.

This year, out of 11,92,961 students, 10,59,080 successfully passed their class 12th board exams and the overall pass percentage was registered at 88.78%. It means there is an over 5 percentage points increment than last year.
