The teenage girl who was critically injured in celebratory firing on 16 April, in Outer Delhi's Mongolpuri, has died.

The victim, identified as Anjali, was standing in the balcony on the second floor of her rented accommodation when she was hit by a bullet during a marriage procession. Anjali's parents rushed to the balcony after hearing her scream. She was later rushed to a hospital where she underwent a surgery.

Police have reportedly zeroed in on Vikrant, a 24-year-old cousin of the groom. However, the details of the case are unclear. According to news reports, eyewitnesses could not retrace the exact sequence of events when questioned by the police.

A senior police officer reportedly said that as the girl collapsed on the ground, many of those attending the wedding fled from the spot and did not inform the police.

A day after the incident, cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's marriage also garnered controversy after celebratory gunshots were fired just a few feet away from the bridegroom during the marriage procession.
