Delhi: Ola driver arrested for allegedly harassing woman judge

Following a complaint by an Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) of the Tis Hazari Court, an Ola cab driver has been arrested and booked on charges of outraging the modesty of a womana mong others, said police sources.

The incident took place in North Delhi's Roop Nagar area on 1 June.

The driver, who has been identified as Sandeep, was arrested in Gurugram.

According to the complainant (the ASJ), she had booked an Ola cab to go shopping at a north Delhi marketplace. After arriving at the marketplace, she went into a shop and asked the driver to wait while she shopped.

She alleged that the driver waited for two minutes, after which he started verbally abusing her.He then allegedly threw her bag on the road.

A case under Sections 354 A (making sexually coloured remarks), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of a woman) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at the Roop Nagar Police Station and the driver was arrested.
