Nangloi rape-victim's kin: 'bring accused before public'

News Agencies | Updated on: 13 February 2017, 6:11 IST

The family members of the two-year old girl, who was kidnapped and raped in Nangloi, today urged the Delhi Police to fulfil their promise of bringing the accused before the public.

"The police had given assurance that they would arrest the accused within 24 hours and have done so. But I want that the accused should be brought before the public. Whatever they had promised, they should fulfil it by bringing the accused here," the victim's father told ANI.

The Delhi Police had last night arrested two juveniles in connection with the horrific Nangloi rape case after more than 250 suspects from the locality were rounded up and questioned.

The police were initially trying to trace a motorcycle, which was seen in the CCTV footage. Two men were apparently seen carrying the girl with them.

The accused kidnapped the girl on Friday, taking advantage of a ten-minute-long power cut which took place in the locality. The child was kidnapped while she was watching the Ramlila.

The toddler, who was found bleeding in a nearby park during a search a few hours later after the incident, continues to remain hospitalised.

The police had registered the case under relevant Sections of the IPC and POCSO Act.
