A teacher in a private school in Gurugram reportedly slapped a 14-year-old student and damaged his eardrums. The class 9 student from Sharda International School was allegedly thrashed for misbehaving in class, on 22 April.

Times of India quoted the boy's father Rishi Pal, as saying, "My son suffered a major injury on his left eardrum after his teacher hit him. We came to know about the incident only after he complained about the pain later in the evening. When we visited a doctor, he told us that his eardrum got damaged. Currently, he is being treated at Paras hospital."

According to the report in the Times of India, an FIR was registered on 12 May, against the English teacher under Section 325 (for voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of the IPC.

However, the principal of the school, Abha Raghav, has denied the entire episode and stated that she came to know about it only when the police informed her.

"The parents of the boy neither made any complaint to us nor did they meet us. When we questioned the teacher, she denied that she thrashed the student. However, we will cooperate with the police in their investigations," the daily quoted the principal.
