Two people died and one was left seriously injured when a drunk student driving back from a party hit morning walkers at Janakpuri in West Delhi early on Monday.

According to the police, Rishabh was driving his father's car at a speed of more than 100 kmph and hit three people one after the other over a 1.5 km stretch of road before he was stopped and caught.

Rishabh first hit Kameshwar Prasad, a government employee, who was flung several metres by the impact. The boy drove on, hit 40-year-old car cleaner Santosh, sped off again and finally hit 67-year-old Ashwani Anand, a property dealer, before he was intercepted and caught by a police patrol, according to NDTV.

The police said Rishabh was so drunk that he couldn't even stand up. A search of the car, registered in Rishabh's father's name, revealed a stash of liquor bottles.

The police have charged Rishabh with culpable homicide not amounting to murder under the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.

Santosh, the car cleaner, is battling for his life.
