World T20: West Indies all out for 140 as India win warm-up match comfortably

Speed News Desk | Updated on: 14 February 2017, 5:53 IST

India begun their preparations for the World T20 in style as they posted 185 for five in the first innings, followed by a clinical bowling performance to make short work of the West Indies chase.

Chris Gayle top scored for West Indies, albeit with only 20 runs as half the team failed to make it into double figures. The Indian bowlers kept picking up wickets at regular intervals, leading to the lack of any partnerships set up by the West Indian batsmen.

Earlier in the first innings, Rohit Sharma scored a scintillating 98 off 57 balls, as the classy Mumbai batsman gets ready to square up to more experienced bowlers in the next round of the World T20.

Mohammad Shami picked up one wicket on his comeback while Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers with three wickets.

India will play their next warm-up match on Saturday, 12 March against South Africa in Mumbai.
