Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been such a magnificent player in the cricketing world that records keep shattering during most of his innings. During the recently concluded ODI series against Australia, Virat Kohli arrived at another landmark. The Indian skipper broke MS Dhoni’s record of fastest to 5,000 runs by a captain in ODI.
Following the second ODI in Rajkot, the 31-year-old stood just 17 runs behind MS Dhoni’s milestone but did not take much time to shatter it in the third ODI in Bengaluru.
MS Dhoni scored 5,000 runs as captain in 127 innings but Kohli managed the feat in just 82 innings. This demonstrates the exceptional consistency Kohli has displayed after taking over from MS Dhoni.
While on the other hand, Rohit Sharma has also achieved an important milestone in his career of becoming the third fastest to 9,000 ODI runs.
The cricketers who was the fastest to 9000 runs in ODIs was Virat Kohli who achieved the landmark in 194 innings and he is followed by South Africa’s AB de Villiers (205 innings).
