Phenomenal Indian batsman Virat Kohli, who took the baton of ODI captaincy from MS Dhoni earlier this month, has broken yet another record after hitting 55 runs against Englast at Eden garden in Kolkata on 22 January.

Indian skipper Kohli has become the fastest to complete 1,000 runs as ODI skipper.

Kohli has achieved the milestone in 17 innings. Earlier, South African skipper AB de Villiers held the record as it took him 18 innings to reach the mark of 1000 runs.

Kohli is the seventh Indian player who has scored 1000 runs as captain.

Other six Indian players are Dhoni (6,633 runs), Mohammad Azharuddin (5,239), Sourav Ganguly (5,082), Rahul Dravid (2,658), Sachin Tendulkar (2,454) and Kapil Dev (1,564).

India on Sunday wrapped the ODI series against England on winning notes as the hosts won the series by 2-1.

Skipper Virat Kohli played a match winning knock in the first ODI (122 off 105 balls) along with Kedar Jadhav and helped India to chase down a stiff target of 351. Third ODI also witnessed Kohli's aggression as the captain brought up another crucial knock.
