Rohit Sharma feels IPL should not be a criteria for World Cup selection

Mumbai Indians and team India opener Rohit Sharma said that Indian Premier League performance cannot be a criteria for World Cup selection. The selection should be on the basis of performance and form in the last four years. Rohit Sharma’s form in the IPL has been a thinking point for Mumbai Indians as he failed with the bat.

Rohit further added that, “With their inputs, the selectors will keep an eye on what is happening with those guys in IPL although I feel IPL should not be the criteria for team selection.” Rohit who is certainly in the World Cup squad as an opener, also said that the conditions should be in mind for selection of players for specific spots.


The national selectors are keeping a close eye on the IPL performances for picking up a 15-mamber squad. The World Cup will begin on May 30 days after the Indian Premier League will conclude on May 12.

Rohit Sharma, who plays for Mumbai Indians as an opener and the skipper have failed to make his mark till now and his team have won just two out of the four matches they have played. They are currently sitting on the sixth position on the points table and will face the table toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 6.
