PM Modi hails Mohammad Kaif, Yuvraj Singh for supporting Janta curfew, says ‘it’s time for another partnership’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday commended the efforts of former Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif after the suggested the people to participate in ‘Janata curfew’ to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

"Here are 2 excellent cricketers whose partnership we will remember forever. Now, as they have said, it is time for another partnership. This time, all of India will be partners in the fight against Coronavirus," PM Modi tweeted.

The Indian Prime Minister on Thursday has asked citizens to follow janata curfew on 22nd March in the view of Covid-19 outbreak.

After PM Modi’s address Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif made an appeal to the citizens to come together to battle the pandemic.

The partnership PM Modi made mention of was from the Natwest final 2002 where india had to chase down the target of 326 to win the match. India was travailing at 146/5 when both Kaif and Yuvraj got together at the crease.

The duo created a partnership of 121 runs to give India a gleam of optimism in the game. Yuvraj was out for 69 runs, but Kaif batted well to give the men in blue a win in the final over with three balls to spare.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India has now mounted to 271.
