Man arrested for sending email to BCCI threatening to kill Indian cricketers

Mumbai Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has apprehended a man from Assam for sending an email to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) frightening to kill Indian cricket players.

Braja Mohan Das was taken into costody from Shantipur in Morigaon district after the ATS launched a investigation and found him with the help of local police.


“The BCCI received a mail on August 16. An ATS team was rushed to Assam. The team with the help of Assam Police found the accused after meticulous effort and apprehended him on August 20,”ATS statement said.

“Certain electronic divices used in the commission of the offence were seized from the accused,” ATS said.

The transit remand was obtained from the chief judicial magistrate’s court in Moregaon and Das was brought to Mumbai. He was produced before the Mazgaon court which sent him to police custody till 26th August. Further investigation is underway, the statement said.

The Indian cricket team is currently in the West Indies and are to play their first Test today.
