Lodha Panel urges Supreme Court to act on BCCI's flouting recommendations

The Lodha Panel, on 28 September, has submitted a report to the Supreme Court saying the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has ignored its recommendations on bringing changes in its governance.

The Panel has urged the apex court to proceed with an urgent hearing of the case. It was formed by the Supreme Court in the wake of the 2013 IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal.

A review request has already been filed by BCCI for changes in the order. "Instead of clearing the defects, the BCCI has been flouting the timelines and suggestions, citing its review plea on technical defects," Huntnews reported.

At BCCI's AGM on 21 September, openly disregarding Lodha guidelines, the BCCI named several committees that will be effective for 2016-17. The Lodha Panel had set the BCCI two deadlines - one on 30 September to make constitutional changes and the other on 15 December to form a nine-member Apex committee that will replace the working committee.
