KL Rahul rescue Kings XI Punjab despite Hyderabad's de facto captain David Warner's effort

Kings XI Punjab won the match by 6 wickets as they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in a thrilling match at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

Kings XI Punjab won the toss earlier and decided to bowl first. Sunrisers Hyderabad didn’t have a quick start as Warner lost his opening partner Jonny Bairstow for just 1 run. Bairstow was caught by Ashwin at mid-wicket off Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s delivery.


Vijay Shankar was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin for 26 off 27 balls, while Mohammad Nabi became victim of an unfortunate run-out by Ashwin for just 7 runs. 

 

Manish Pandey came in and notched up a 50-run partnership before he got out in the last over off Mohammed Shami's short ball. Pandey scored 19 off 15. Deepak Hooda came in and played some big shots to take his team to the 150 run mark as he scored 14 off just 3 balls.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin took one wicket each for Punjab, while Ashwin took a wicket via run-out.

KL Rahul and Chris Gayle started well for Punjab but Gayle was dismissed for 16 off 14 balls by Rashid Khan. Rahul and Mayank Agarwal notched up a 100-run partnership before Agarwal was dismissed for 43-ball 55 by Sandeep Sharma to put Punjab into a tricky position. Sharma also picked David Miller in the same over for just 1 run.

Mandeep Singh was dismissed by Siddarth Kaul for just 2 runs in the 19th over. But Rahul along with Sam Curran finished it for Punjab. Rahul stayed unbeaten at 71 off 53 balls, while Curran at 5 off 3 balls.

Sandeep Sharma took two wickets for Hyderabad, while Rashid Khan and Siddarth Kaul picked up one each. Despite taking the game into the last over Sunrisers Hyderabad lost it by 6 wickets and with one ball remaining.
