Indian women's cricket team creates history with T20 series win in Australia

Indian eves beat their Australian counterparts in the second Twenty-20 international here by ten wickets on Friday on the basis of the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Indian captain Mithali Raj won the toss and put Australia into bat this morning. Australia scored 128 for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 18 overs.

Replying to the Australian score, India scored 69 for no loss in 9.1 overs after being set a ten over target of 66 under the D/L method.

For the Australians, the top scorers were skipper M M Lanning with 49 and J L Jonassen with 27. Julan Goswami and R S Gayakwad claimed two wickets each, while Poonam Yadav and H Kaur claimed a wicket each.

For the Indians, skipper Mithali Raj and fellow opener S Mandhana scored unbeaten knocks of 37 and 22 respectively in their 69-run partnership.

The Indians now lead the three-match series 2-0, thus ensuring the first ever T20 series win in Australia.
