Indian Navy Day 2019: Sachin Tendulkar wishes personnel, expresses gratitude for their service to nation

Indian batting icon Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday took to his official twitter handle and wished Navy personnel and their family on Navy Day, expressing gratitude for thier dedication and service to the country.

"Wishing our @indiannavy personnel and their families a happy Navy Day. Thank you for your dedication and service to the nation. Jai Hind!" Sachin tweeted.


Along with the post, Sachin also tweeted an image of Navy personnel lined up on a deck of a ship, holding their caps out. India commemorates Navy Day on 4th December every year.

Navy day is observed every year to mark the attack on the Karachi harbour during the Indo-Pak war on this day in 1971 by the Indian Navy.

The theme of the Navy Day this year is “Indian Navy- Salient, Strong and Swift”.

The 47-year old, who was bestowed with the honorary rank of Group Captain in the Indian Air Force in 2010, was also present at the celebration of the Air Force Day on their 87th anniversary in October.

"On the occasion of Indian Air Force Day, best wishes to all. I thank all the soldiers and officers for always keeping India safe. Seeing the excitement regarding the Prime Minister Modi-initiated Swacch Bharat Mission, I hope India forever remains healthy, clean, and safe. Jai Hind," he wrote.

Sachin Tendulkar had featured in 200 Test and 463 ODIs for the national side. He had also cumulated 15,921 Test runs and 18,426 ODI runs for India, which includes 100 centuties.

The Master Blaster was decorated with Arjuna Award in 1994. he is also a recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna (1997-98), Padma Shri (1999) and Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
