Despite lone survivor batsman MS Dhoni's 65 runs, Sri Lanka took away the first match of three match series by seven wickets at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala.

In first inning,, the Indian team were all out for just 112 runs against Sri Lanka. This is his 11th lowest score in ODI cricket. At one stage, the Indian team looked in trouble after losing 7 wickets on 29 runs and it was also difficult to reach 50 runs. But the former skipper MS Dhoni scored a brilliant 65 and helped the Indian team cross 100.

Earlier, in 2000 against Sri Lanka, the Indian team was reduced to just 54 runs in Sharjah. This was its lowest score in ODI cricket. The Indian team has so far been dismissed for less than 100 in ODIs against Sri Lanka twice. India's second most recent lowest one-day score is against Australia. In 1981, the Indian team was all out on 81 runs in a match against Australia. Greg Chappell took 5 wickets in that match.

Team India opener Rohit Sharma 2 (13), Shikhar Dhawan 0 (6), Shreyas Iyer 9 (27), Dinesh Karthik 0 (18), Manish Pandey 2 (15), Hardik Pandya 10 (10), Bhuvneshwar Kumar 0 (5), Kuldeep Yadav (19), Bumrah, 0 (15) put together 42 runs on one side while Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who hit one end on the other side, scored 65 runs in 87 balls with 10 fours and two sixes.
