India and New Zealand will play their first T20I match today and former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar wants Rishabh Pant to play in place of MS Dhoni. Gavaskar has made his own list of playing XI and former Indian captain MS Dhoni have no place in it.

Gavaskar while discussing India’s playing XI said that even though MS Dhoni is in great form right now but he shouldn’t be inducted in the eleven member squad. Instead of Dhoni a young player should get a chance and by that he meant Rishabh Pant.

Former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson also agreed with Sunil Gavaskar and said that ahead of ICC 2019 Cricket World Cup, MS Dhoni should be given rest. After Dhoni’s match-winning performance against Australia, his place in the World Cup squad is secured.

According to Gavaskar’s list, these batsmen should play the first T20I – Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya. While talking about the result of the series, Gavaskar said, team India will win it by 2-1.
