Former Pakistan cricketer alleges World Cup is fixed, India will knowingly lose two matches
Former Pakistan cricket Basit Ali has alleged that the ongoing ICC World Cup in England and Wales is fixed. India will purposely lose their two matches against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to make sure that Pakistan doesn’t qualify for the semi-final.
Basit Ali also said that Australia knowingly lost their game against India. He also added that in 1992 World Cup New Zealand deliberately lost to Pakistan in the semi-final. Basit, however, didn’t give any reason or logic to explain his comments but it shocked everyone present there.
A sports journalist from Pakistan posted the video on social media. Saj Sadiq shared the video from his official Twitter handle and captioned it, “Basit Ali reckons India will not want Pakistan to qualify for the semi-finals and may play poorly in their matches against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh #CWC19.”

To reach the World Cup 2019 semi-final, Pakistan has to defeat New Zealand, Bangladesh and Afghanistan in their remaining games and their eyes will also be at India matches as they are yet to play against West Indies, Bangladesh, England and Sri Lanka. If India loses its match against England or Bangladesh it will be difficult for Pakistan to reach semis.
India has won four out of the five matches it played and one was washed out due to rain. India will meet West Indies on June 27 at Old Trafford, Manchester where they defeated their arch-rival Pakistan by 89 runs (DLS) method.
