Virat Kohli's men are set for the five-Test match series against England in England at Edgbaston cricket ground in Birmingham. England won the toss and opted to bat first.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Joe Root are very close to break the some of the milestones. There are the records which can be easily break but remaining records needs more efforts to break.


Records which can be break:

  • Virat Kohli is very close to complete 1000 runs against England. He is just 26 runs away to achieve the feat. If he achieves the milestone then Kohli will become 13th Indian cricketer to achieve the feat.
  • England skipper Joe Root is very close to complete the 6000 runs in Test cricket.
  • England pacer Stuart Broad is  just 24 runs away to become fifth player to complete 3000 runs and 400 wickets in Test cricket.
  • Karun Nair (303*) is only the Indian cricketer who scored highest individual score against England in Chennai.

Cheteshwar Pujara failed to registered their spot in the playing XI while Ravichandran Ashwin made a superb comeback by breaking opening partnership of England.

Cheteshwar Pujara’s exclusion from the first Test came as a surprise despite his superb form in recent era.

The 30-year old Pujara is regarded as one of the best overseas Test batsmen for India. In 58 Tests, he has scored 4,531 runs at an average of 50.34 with 14 hundreds to his name

Virat Kohli will be desperate to prove he can score runs in England in the opening Test match.
