Ambati Rayudu announces his retirement from all forms of cricket, writes to BCCI
India cricketer Ambati Rayudu has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket including the IPL, accoding to BCCI sources.
His move comes after Indian team management replaced Mayank Agarwal in place of injured Vijay Shankar in the World Cup squad.
Rayudu was in the stand by list for the World Cup but even after injuries to Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar, the selectors picked Rishabh Pant and Mayank Agarwal as replacements.
"This is to inform that Ambati Rayudu, Hyderabad captain and member of the India ODI team, has decided to retire from longer version of the game including Ranji Trophy (multi day) to focus on limited overs cricket and T20 cricket," Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) had stated.
Rayudu has featured in 55 ODI’s and has 1694 runs to his name, with three centuries and ten fifties at an average of 47.05. In six T20Is he played, the right handed batsman has scored 42 runs. Rayudu has never featured in Test cricket.
Rayudu made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2013 and played his last ODI against Australia in Ranchi this year.
