A match played at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium created history in the Indian Premier League. The women’s IPL match between Velocity and Trailblazers saw a new record created. Five wickets fell down from seven balls and it saw opposition fall like a deck of cards.

The unbelievable feat was achieved in the 17th and 18th over of the second innings. Batting first, Trailblazers put on 112 runs from 20 overs. Velocity was looking good while chasing the target as they scored 111 runs from 17.4 overs and needed just 2 runs to win. But then everything fell on its head as Rajeshwari Gayakwad dismissed Danielle Wyatt for 46 off 35 on 16.5. Veda Krishnamurthy fell for a duck in the very next ball when she was dismissed run-out.

Deepti Sharma came in and dismissed Mithali Raj, Shikha Pandey and Amelia Kerr in the next over to create the IPL record. The chase at one point became really difficult for them but Velocity’s Sushree Pradhan scored the final two runs to take them home. Deepti Sharma finished with four wickets at the end of the game while Gayakwad finished with one wicket to her name.

Velocity won the match by 3 wickets as they chased down the target in 18 overs. Velocity was defeated by Supernovas in the next game by 12 runs.
