With Raees releasing on 26 January, Shah Rukh Khan just revealed why he won't do a film like Sultan or Dangal

Salman Khan's Sultan opened to packed houses on Eid 2016. The film is based on the life of a Haryanvi wrestler. A few months from now, Aamir Khan's Dangalwill hit the screens. The film, yet another wrestling drama, is a cinematic adaptation of the lives of Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters, who are wrestling champs.

With two of Bollywood's Khans doing films based on wrestling, Shah Rukh Khan was recently asked if he would follow suit. Speaking at a media interaction during Eid celebrations at his residence, Mannat, in Mumbai, Khan said:

"Let Aamir and Salman handle wrestling... two of them are enough to handle wrestling. Above all I don't look like a wrestler from any angle. I am a romantic hero and I don't know wrestling".

Sultan was all set to lock horns with Shah Rukh's thriller, Raees, this Eid. However, the clash was averted after Shah Rukh's ill-health caused a delay in the shooting of Raees. When asked about the clash, he said:

"When two films release at the same time, we don't get the big theatrical release we want. Budget of the film suffers if the movie is not releasing on 4,000 screens. One needs to have 8,000 to 10,000 theaters for two movies to release at the same time. I don't think two big films can released at the same time. Secondly, I suffered some injuries and there are body shot portions I still need to shoot. But otherwise the film is ready".

Raees is slated to hit the theatres on 26 January. The film will clash with the Hrithik Roshan-starrer, Kaabil.

"We have discussed with Hrithik for Kaabil, because the movie has just started shooting. So hopefully we will come out on 26 or 27 January 2017," Shah Rukh added.

Raees, which also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan, has been directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Gauri Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under their banners Red Chillies Entertainment and Excel Entertainment.
