Will Shahid Kapoor recreate Jab We Met magic with Shaandaar?

Shahid Kapoor gears up for his first release post marriage, Shaandaar, which also stars Alia Bhatt. The film, which is slated to release on 22 October 2015, has been touted as India's first destination wedding film. Shaandaar's recently launched trailer earned positive responses from both the trade analysts and audiences alike.

Shaandaar will be Kapoor's first big romcom release after Jab We Met, considering that his other romantic movies like Kismat Konnection and Teri Meri Kahani failed to make any kind of mark and sank without a trace. It certainly appears that Shaandaar has Jab We Met-sized expectations on its big-budgeted shoulders.

Will Shahid Kapoor recreate the Jab We Met magic with Shaandaar?

  • Going by Shahid Kapoor's popularity amongst the youth, we won't be surprised if the film manages to draw huge audiences on its release.
  • Like Jab We Met, Shaandaar promises to deliver strong music which would just serve as a cherry on top of the already grand-looking movie.
  • The chemistry shared by Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the trailer of Shaandaar definitely makes us nostalgic of the ever green chemistry between Shahid and Kareena in Jab We Met. Ever since her debut, Alia Bhatt has been compared to Kareena Kapoor and it would be interesting to see if Alia and Shahid take it up a notch more.

  • Another similarity between Shaandaar and Jab We Met is the release date. While Jab We Met released on 26 October 2007, Shaandaar releases on 22 October 2015.
  • Director Imtiaz Ali delivered a classic in the form of Socha Naa Tha, before coming up with Jab We Met and same is with the case of Shaandaar. Director Vikas Bahl's last film Queen has acquired a cult status and there is a palpable anticipation for the release of Shaandaar.

Time shall tell us if Shaandaar lives up to the humongous expectations or not. What are your thoughts on the same? Do share with us.
