As a huge surprise, Welcome Back had a good jump on Sunday and raked in Rs 19.60 crore, which takes the weekend total to Rs 51.00 crore.

Everyone in the trade expected Welcome Back to open well. However, this scale was totally unexpected. The Saturday collections had a jump of 20 per cent from Friday and the Sunday collections jumped by 20 per cent from Saturday, which suggests a positive trend for the film.

Welcome Back is doing extraordinary business in Gujarat, Rajasthan and the C.I belt and is expected to continue its good run over the weekdays too in these mass dominated areas. Even in metros like Mumbai and Delhi, the film had good jumps over the weekend. However, how it fares over the weekdays in the metros is crucial, considering the high budget of the film.

Welcome Back 1

Day Wise Collection:

  • Friday - Rs 14.35 crore
  • Saturday - Rs 17.05 crore
  • Sunday - Rs 19.60 crore

The film has emerged as the third highest opener of the year after Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Akshay Kumar's Brothers.

Top 5 Opening Weekends of 2015:

  • Bajrangi Bhaijaan - Rs 102.60 crore
  • Brothers - Rs 52.08 crore
  • Welcome Back - Rs 51.00 crore
  • ABCD 2 - Rs 46.35 crore
  • Gabbar Is Back - Rs 39.41 crore

The word of mouth factor will come into play from today and it will be interesting to see how Welcome Back fares now on. Last week's release, Phantom, performed reasonably well over the weekend, but tanked heavily in the weekdays.

Even though critics haven't exactly praised Welcome Back, the audience seems to be enjoying the film leading to such collections.
