Sultan crosses Rs 300 Cr; salutes real Sultans at Rio Olympics with Rs 10 Lakh

Salman Khan's wrestling drama, Sultan breezed past the Rs 300 crore mark at the Box Office on 10 August, 2016. Now the producers - Yash Raj Films - have announced that they will salute every Indian gold medal winner at the Rio Olympics.

The production house, which is one of the most successful in the Hindi film industry, has decided to felicitate the winners with a cash price of Rs 10 lakh. With Sultan set against the backdrop of wrestling, a recognised sport in the Olympics, the gesture to salute real Sultan's of India is a prestigious one.

In the film, apart from the rise, fall and rise of Sultan, both the characters i.e. Sultan and Aarfa, aspire to win gold for India at the Olympics. The film is now about to end its lifetime run in India with collections close to Rs 301 crore. The worldwide total of Sultan till date stands at Rs 584 crore - the third highest grossing film of Bollywood after PK and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
