Sonam Kapoor, who will be seen essaying the role of Neerja Bhanot in the upcoming biopic 'Neerja', paid a tribute to the daredevil Pan Am flight attendant who gave her life while trying to save passengers during a hijack. Sonam remembered the brave heart on her birthday and even started a campaign to salute Neerja through social media.

Neerja Bhanot was a senior flight attendant who saved 360 lives on a Pan Am flight when it was hijacked in Karachi in 1986. Neerja posthumously became the youngest recipient of India's highest civilian award for bravery, the Ashok Chakra. She was two days short of her 23rd birthday when she was killed.

Sonam Kapoor tweeted -- To the Unflinching Spirit. To the Courage that Inspires. To #NeerjaBhanot: My Humble Salute.

Presented by Fox Star Studios, Neerja is produced by Atul Kasbekar's Bling Unplugged and directed by Ram Madhvani.
