Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt team up for Gully Boy. But who would be the second male lead?

Excel Entertainment has confirmed that their upcoming film, Gully Boy to be directed by Zoya Akhtar will star Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead.

In the film, Ranveer Singh will essay the character of a guy who is born and brought up in a Mumbai slum and aspires to be a rapper. Unlike Zoya's previous two films which revolved around the urban characters, this one is rather raw, rustic and hard-hitting. The film will reportedly address various social issues like Dalit oppression, street life and inequality.

Details about Alia Bhatt's character have been kept under wraps. Gully Boy is a two hero film and the makers are in talks with a few actors to come on board. There were speculations that Zoya plans to get Ranbir Kapoor on board, however there has been no official word on the same.

Gully Boy will go on floors in November this year once Ranveer Singh is done shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama, Padmavati.
