Rani is all set to make her comeback on screen with Hitchki
Rani Mukerji, who was last seen in Mardaani in 2014, took a break from work after giving birth to Adira in 2015. Earlier this year the actress confirmed that she has signed her first project post maternity break and is all set to play a disabled character.
During her live chat on her birthday last month on Facebook, the actress revealed that she will begin shooting for her film from April at Yashraj Studios and the movie will release this year itself. In her statement she had said, “I was looking for a script that would challenge and excite me, and Hichki came my way. Each of us has a weakness that pulls us back. It could be a disability or any condition but if we just look at it as simply a hiccup, we can emerge as a winner. It won’t come in the way of achieving our dreams. Hichki is built on this positive premise and I decided to take it up.”
Hichki is directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and is co-produced by Maneesh Sharma. It was reported that the director first offered this film to Emraan Hashmi and Abhishek Bachchan, but they apparently rejected it. So later the script was changed to make it suitable for Rani.
