Ganpati is here with all the attendant pomp and joy. As devotees welcome the elephant God into their homes, Akshay Kumar goes down nostalgia lane and shares his childhood memories of Ganesh Chaturthi.

"I have danced on the roads during Ganesh Chaturthi, when I used to stay in Bandra east. During my stay in Lokhandwala, they used to keep the Idol in our building and I have taken it to Versova, dancing all the way. It was so much fun to be awake for five nights and play games... We had Carom and Table Tennis competitions! The aarti, the food and going to relatives' homes for the Prasad... I have great memories of all those things we did.

Ganesh Chaturthi is also very auspicious and I would really like to say that don't just make a Ganpati for the sake of it. Make it as eco-friendly as possible. The scene after visarjan is the worst... I stay by the beach and I feel very sad when I see Ganpati's hand and legs strewn about. I know it is a bit expensive to buy an eco-friendly Ganpati but little more money can save the environment."

The actor is currently promoting his upcoming comic entertainer Singh Is Bliing, directed by Prabhu Deva. The film releases on 2 October, 2015.
