As in real life, there are two kinds of controversies in Bollywood. Those that are fabricated - with the intention to draw attention to a particular star or a film - or those that are stirred up without assistance.

If the film industry has taught us anything, it is that even a film poster can cause massive outrage. Maybe this is because a film's poster provides a first look of the film. Here are 22 film posters that have remained the most controversial ones in the history of Bollywood:

1. Dunno Y... Na Jaane Kyun (2010)

The film, based on a homosexual relationship, raised eyebrows for depicting men in provocative poses.

2. Mastram (2013)

The film, about a pornographic writer, raised eyebrows upon its release. The film's poster too drew flak from the Shiv Sena and others. A line on the poster that read "If you don't know about Mastram, please ask your father and uncle about him" was later removed.

8. Ek Chhoti Si Love Story (2002)

The 2002 romantic film starred Manisha Koirala and Aditya Seal. The poster of the film showed the female body and went on to trigger a lot of controversy.
