#CatchFlashBack: When Karan Johar chose Shah Rukh Khan over Salman Khan!

Shah Rukh Khan won over the audiences with his performance in Kal Ho Na Ho. The actor slipped into the shoes of the character of Aman with ease and made it his own.

Shah Rukh Khan had almost walked out of the film that marked the directorial debut of Nikhil Advani. After shooting for a few days, Shah Rukh Khan had to undergo a back surgery in Germany.

Following his surgery, Shah Rukh Khan called up Johar and told him that it won’t be possible for him to do the film as he has been advised to rest for 6 to 7 months. SRK didn’t want to push the shooting schedule of the film as Karan Johar and his production team had locked the locations and had taken all permissions to shoot the film abroad.

To save Karan Johar from losses, Shah Rukh Khan was ready to talk to Salman Khan to come on board and do the film. However, Karan Johar and Nikhil Advani were not too keen to get Salman Khan on board since the character of Aman was written keeping SRK in mind.

After a few discussions, the director –producer duo came to a conclusion that they would push the shooting schedule of the film by 7 months and make the film only with Shah Rukh Khan. They spoke to the entire cast of the film who readily agreed to adjust their dates and allot fresh ones after half a year.

Like they say, some films are destined to be made with some actors and Kal Ho Na Ho was one of those…..
