Gone are the days when he was an unknown name. Now, Gajendra Chauhan is the chairman of The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), which has been accorded the status of an 'Institute of National Importance' by the Government of India (GoI).
Chauhan has credentials of being an active BJP member, a BJP campaigner in Haryana during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and the like. The protest organised by FTII students post the announcement of his chairmanship, has put the spotlight on him, so much so, that it has given him the scope to venture back into the world of television, from where he emerged in 1984.

- The actor has got industry experience of 34 years. His showbiz career comprises 15 movies and over 16 television shows, out of which he played the lead in seven. As the politician confessed, he has done some 'B' grade films as well.
- And for his fans who loved 'Dharmraj Yudhishthir,' here's a shocking revelation. The character landed up in his kitty unplanned after he had to drop the role of 'Krishna' from the same show because of being over-weight.
He has learned acting from a school in Mumbai. And interestingly, Chunky Pandey was one of his batch mates.
